Philippians 4:6-7
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
This is another scripture that’s been on my heart for awhile. I’ve mentioned before how bad my anxiety was. I’ve had to pull this scripture out so many times to avoid an attack, but it wasn’t until I started believing in it that it worked for me.
God’s peace is so much better than anxiety. Peace comes when I draw my strength from God rather than myself. Peace comes when I allow Him to be involved in my situation. Anxiety comes when fear attacks my mind and I try to come up with solutions for existing or pre-existing situations.
My favorite book, “How to Win Friends And Influence People” by Dale Carnegie, has a chapter on dealing with anxiety. The author gives a “and then what?” theory that basically states when dealing with anxiety, after you’ve exhausted all of your scenarios, you realize there’s no point in worrying about what’s beyond your control.
But the truth is, mostly everything is beyond your control which is why you tend to feel out of control. But when God is in control of your life, you have nothing to worry about. How can a perfect God mess up? Present your requests to Him and then let it go. Just start thanking Him because He’s good and it’s DONE in Jesus Name.
