“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
I remember when the Lord called me to go on my first mission trip to Peru. I prepared for months by spending time with Him in His word, praising Him, and doing spiritual warfare. I didn’t think I could ever be so prepared! I had everything packed and I was excited to go but fear quickly struck me when I remembered this was my first flight. I remember trembling as I walked on the plane; I remember the anxiety that flowed through my body as we lifted off of the ground. This was my first flight and I had THREE other flights to catch, which included one overseas (I’m not a strong swimmer).
A wave of panic covered my mind as million thoughts listed all of the things that could go wrong.
“What if the plane crashes?”
“What if we crash in the water?”
“What if I die overseas?”
“What if I never see my family again?”
I remember staring at pictures of my family and friends with tears in my eyes and trembling hands. And I heard a still, small voice, “Be anxious for nothing…I have not given you the spirit of fear…I will never leave you nor forsake you.” What I love about God is He’s already there. Before you get where you’re going, He’s there. And so long as He’s there, fear and peace cannot reside in the same place.
What God has for you exists and where He has it exists. He is already in your destiny. There’s no reason to fear. Walk in faith, not fear. His peace has gone before you.
